Alcohol Abstinence

Learning Objectives:

  • Appreciate the burden of patients with alcohol use disorder in the Canadian population
  • Discuss the various therapeutic modalities used for patients with alcohol use disorder
  • Understanding the distinction between abstinence and recovery
  • Review the current medications used in the management of alcohol use disorder

Dr. Craig Kuhn is Family and Addiction physician practicing at Niagara Addictions Services; affiliated with the Niagara Health System.  He has special interest in health care professionals with addictions, management of chronic HCV, hospital-based opioid agonist therapy, and adolescent/adult ADHD. Dr. Kuhn is a member of the UHN ECHO-LIVER team.
